The Poetry Society of Louisiana (Hereafter referred to as PS.o.L and pronounced with a silent P – “sol”/ ”soul”) is a not-for-profit organization (Which has had tax-exempt 5013c status conferred on it.) which exists to foster, generate, and promote literary excellence and the role of poetry in the life of Louisiana’s diverse communities. With an ear tuned to vivid effect, fullness of thought, emotional dynamism, and language that brims, PS.o.L . intends to employ readings, publications, contests, community outreach, and an interactive presence on the web to achieve these ends.
The Poetry Society of Louisiana can now receive tax free donations because we have had 501c3 status conferred upon us.
Statement of Communal Commitment
PS.o.L seeks to champion all of Louisiana’s oral and print-based poets. PS.o.L will act at all times in behalf of and with respect for all ethnicities and genders regardless of sexual identification or religious affiliation. Malicious or harmful speech will not be tolerated within PS.o.L ‘s sponsored publications, websites, or events.
PS.o.L is committed to bringing the voices of Louisiana poets and writers to light and, therefore, will not accept or promote writing generated by artificial intelligence.
The Poetry Society of Louisiana is a 501(c)3 tax exempt entity. Please consider making a donation today so that we can get out of debt and begin to have enough funds to further promote poetry throughout the state of Louisiana. An interesting footnote is that Louisiana was the first state to have formed a statewide poetry society. That Society went bankrupt a few years ago. That is why this Society has been formed.
